Disabling DEP

7.1 – Disable DEP

For security reasons, Windows Server 2016 by default has enabled Data Execution Prevention (DEP) for all applications and services. This can lead to problems when running certain games and applications.

1) Right click the Start Menu and click “System“:

2) On the left click “Advanced System Settings“, choose “Advanced” and choose “Data Execution Prevention“.

Tick the top option; “Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only“. Click “OK” and restart your computer if prompted:
